Strategic planning for the development of large city and international standardization: aspects of integration interaction

The article examines current problems of territorial development and shows the need for a strategic approach to solve them. The main attention is paid to the development opportunities of large cities. The process offorming a strategic plan and strategy for the socio-economic development of St. Petersburg is considered in more detail. The problems and ways of development of the city over the past decades have been identified. Particular attention is paid to the current Strategy for the socio-economic development of St. Petersburg until 2035 and the need to adjust it in modern conditions for the purpose ofsustainable development and improving the quality of life of the city's population. In this regard, international and national standards related to sustainable urban development are reviewed to assess the quality of life of the urban population.
