Strategic development of the regional innovation system

World experience in using regional innovation systems proves their high efficiency, which necessitates the need to deepen the practice of their application in Russia. The issues of strategic management of innovation ecosystems are of particular importance. The article examines the evolution of the concept of a regional innovation system and the need to apply strategic management of it. The work also examines the theory of cluster innovation and its subsequent transformation into an innovation ecosystem; the importance of localization in innovative development and the formation of competitive strategies of the socio-economic system is highlighted; the main features of the regional innovation system are characterized; the essence, place and role of innovation strategy in the long-term planning system of the region is formulated; the state and main problems in the formation of innovative strategies of Russian regions are determined.
