Strategy of the Russian regions’ development: reality

The paper presents the results of the research aimed on revealing the development processes in Russian province. The modern social and economic situation in the localities of five Russian region is considered. The author stresses that migration of young people to big cities is the main and common problem of all local communities. The state strategy of development is technocratic and oriented towards regional centers ignoring local level. The paper shows local actors’ views on the development process in Russia. The author shows the decline of social activism as the result of modern development policy.
