The article offers a stratified approach to the description of the modern economy essence. The approach is based on the concepts of structures. The complexity of the economy is represented by combination stratums of economic, technological, organizational, reproductive, and managerial structures as elements economic system. The invariance of the stratified approach is shown by the creation of modern economy forms typology with a description global and local economic systems, justifying the formation of business models and the organization of management in the economy of contract, innovation, and network types.
