The crisis of the world economy in 2022 which also hit Russia became another signal of the failure of the global economy in its current form. In Russia many industries have suffered, both in production and in the service sector. Using the example of IT the authors analyze the current state of the Russian economy with an indication of its causes, as well as build a forecast of its further development. The Russian labor market in the field of information technology has experienced a shock due to the fact that a number of specialists left the country on a wave of panic. The Government promptly took a number of measures aimed both at changing the current situation and at stable development of the industry in the long term. The economic crisis of 2022 may become a key moment that can qualitatively change the role of the IT sector in the Russian economy. The demand for the industry’s products is already growing and will continue to grow in the future, and this is an effective incentive for making decisions in the field of personnel policy (at the company level) and, as a result, maintaining the labor market in optimal condition, as well as for more active actions to develop import substitution in the production and maintenance of software and equipment.
