Structural-semantic features of English toponyms

In this article the complex analysis of peculiarities of English toponymy is carried out, as well as revealing of linguistic and cultural peculiarities and national specificity of urbanonyms as special type of toponyms. Toponyms are evidence of historical conditions of the epochs when they emerged, formed and spread. Toponyms express mentality of people, their worldview, culture, life, customs, and psychological state. They are an integral part of modern civilization and represent a unique toponymic environment, without which the existence of mankind is impossible.
