The article provides the basis for the methodology of studying traditional cultures with use of systemic and structural synergistic methods. The research of traditional beliefs and religion of the northern peoples is complicated by the fact that it is difficult to study these phenomena in its entirety and singularity by traditional methods of dialectical materialism. The use of structural approach makes it possible to identify the structures of consciousness that have been preserved for many centuries in the religious consciousness of the Sakha people. Application of systemic approach introduces the feedback principle and a model of the researched object. The use of synergetic approach is dictated by the fact that religious beliefs and traditional representations of the Sakha people can be considered as an open evolutionary system in virtue of their nature and backgrounds. The principles of synergetics such as homeostasis and hierarchy are useful in studying the structures of consciousness of feudal societies.
