The article considers the possibilities and the role of students' union activities in Russia and abroad, its influence on the sociocultural development of competent professionals. It is emphasized that the status and public recognition of the out-of-school activities as a significant component of education in a university is a relevant point. The author evaluates the main areas and the content of the students' union activities in the united educational space.
