Judicial policy of the tsarist government in Russian Turkestan

The article is devoted to the study of the judicial system of the Turkestan region, which was a regional synthesis of traditional native institutions and all-Russian institutions. The author considers interaction of the Turkestan administration with the people's courts of the indigenous population of Central Asia. The tsarist government maintained the principles of native people's justice and at the same time limited them by introducing Russian judicial statutes. The author believes that the civilizational policy of the tsarist government in the sphere of legal proceedings in the region gradually but steadily improved the attitude of the native society to new forms of justice.
