The judicial system of Chelyabinsk in the 18th - mid-19th centuries

The article reveals the content of the judicial reform of Catherine II, caused by the fear of the Pugachev’s war. The process of its formation at the County level is based on the materials of the Chelyabinsk region. All links are defined: the district council (Zemstvo) lower court; lower punishments, including the one created specifically to deal with Bashkir population; the city magistrate, as an independent court; two structural institutions - the orphan and verbal courts. County court, the highest regional instance, is shown. Were identified the first heads of all Chelyabinsk courts and the system their substitution.
