Suicidal behavior in males: evaluation of hopelessness and depression roles using structural equation modeling. Part I. The effect of hopelessness on the risk of severe suicide attempts

Of suicide attempt are presented. The mediating effects of possible latent variables between accumulateds tressand severity of suicide attempt were in vestigated. Latent variables Affective dysregulation (AD) and Rigid adaptation (RA) were studiedas mediators. There sulting model appeared to adequately describe the experimental data and had an average level of predictability (R2=0,29). Alternative model sinwhich such indicator of the latent variable Rigid adaptationas Hopelessness (according to A. Beck model) were replacedby a variable Beck Depression Index, and the model with the absence of both variables were also tested. The theoretical and clinical applications of the semodelsare discussed.
