Suicide in Ukraine: statistics and epidemiology

Article presents the analysis of statistical data, reflecting to the dynamics of suicide mortality in Ukraine during last 30 years (1981-2010). Four periods of historical dynamics of suicide mortality were separated. Analysis of epidemiologic data reflecting to prevalence of suicide behavior (ideation, plan and attempt) among residents of Ukraine was presented. Results introduce more objective picture of the problem of suicide mortality in Ukraine and discover country specific risk factors and facilitate regional suicide prevention programs.
