Sumba-Khambo Yeshe Baljor: reincarnation lineage and biography

Sumba Khambo Yeshe Baljor was one of the glorious scholars, educated in Gomang college of Drepung monastery. His written legacy is published in a collection of works in eight volumes, including works on the philosophy of Buddhism and the history of the peoples of Central Asia, medicine, astrology and astronomy. His biographers emphasize that he was also an excellent artist. The most famous are his historical works, such as «Pagsam-zhongsan», «Debter-zhamtso», «The History of Kukunor», which were the subject of scholarly interest by Russian and foreign researchers. The article discusses the history of the rebirth of the Sumba clan, as well as the biography of Sumba-khambo, written on the base of his Tibetan-language biography that is introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
