The essence, significance and classification of (preliminary) research as a non-procedural form of use special knowledge

The article analyzes the legislative and departmental regulatory framework, as well as literary sources of a scientific and practical nature, revealing the essence and content of research conducted at the initial stage of the investigation. Two approaches to understanding research have been formed and disclosed. The conclusion is made about the expediency of forming a unified departmental understanding of the essence and procedure of conducting research, as a non-procedural form of using special knowledge. Taking into account the results obtained, a classification of the considered form of using special knowledge is proposed.
