Essence and content of drug addiction, drug criminality among the youth and its prevention

Today the problem of drug addiction is actualised all over the world, becoming one of the global modern problems. Thus, according to the International Association of Fight against Drug Addiction there are about 180 million drug addicts in the world today, 250 thousand of them die every year. In some countries, the use of drug-containing substances for non-medical purposes is approximately estimated as 5-8% of the population in these countries. The most dangerous in this situation is the formation of the drug culture in the society. This is especially relevant to youth and adolescents. So, in Russia the first experience of drug taking accounts for 13 - 15 years. Expansion of drug taking is carried out by involving the youngest age groups, where at least 50% of teenagers have once tried drugs. Tolerance contributes a lot to drug addicts, and thereby drugs attract the interest and curiosity of a large part of teenagers. This article analyzes the essence and content of drug addiction and drug criminality among youth, as well as its prevention. The authors consider it is necessary to intensify efforts to implement the relevant normative legal acts of psychological testing of students in educational institutions on the subject of drug taking.
