Essence and content of regional policy: theoretical aspects

The article is devoted to theoretical aspects of the essence and content of the policy at the regional level. The place and role in the policy of the subjects of the Russian Federation under modern conditions are designated. The the different approaches to the definition of the term "regional policy" are considered from the point of view of the Russian authors. The article highlights the main goals and objectives, objects and subjects of modern regional policy, the content of the basic principles is revealed in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. The participants of the policy at the level of the Federation subjects have been considered, such as households, businesses, non-profit, professional and other organizations actively participating in its formation and implementation, their role is defined. The basic techniques of regional policy are described, they are classified as indirect and direct. The author has drawn conclusions and proposed recommendations for improving effeciency of the regional policy implementation in Russia.
