Essence of social institutions: problems and contradictions

The article reveals the essential concept of social institution and reveals the problems of functioning of various spheres of society. Justifications of thoughts on the basis of works of such sociologists as Peter Berger, Arnold Gehlen are given. It is concluded that social institutions help to solve vital problems. The process of change and self-renewal is an objective and integral part of the successful functioning of social institutions.
