The essence of interaction between the Russian empire and Caucasus civilization from the position of orientalism conception

The aim of the presented work is to define the interaction between the Russian Empire and the Northern Caucasus in the 19th century from the point of view of the conception of orientalism. Beginning with the legitimate use of the term “Caucasus civilization” and its meaning the system of inter-civilized interaction is investigated; the individual features of the presented historical process, the contradictions of its tendencies are presented; it reveals the necessity for more careful and independent scientific research.
