Daily and seasonal movements of brown bear in the Sikhote-Alin

Daily and seasonal movements of brown bear in the Sikhote-Alin (Russian Far East) were estimated using radiotelemetry data. Eighteen animals were under control. An average linear daily movement made up 3.15 km for adult males, 1.65 km - for adult females and 2.12 km - for young male. Males’ daily movements were reliably higher, than females’. In comparison with autumn, during summer period bears’ daily movement rate was higher. Considerable movements of bears were registered during all seasons of activity, but mostly expressed during after denning, in rutting, and before fattening and denning periods.
