Suvorovo catacomb culture: a preliminary characteristic

In the article the sites of the North Caucasus piedmont zone dating fromthe late Catacomb period of MBA are analysed. The investigation is based on 347 burialassociations considered within six territorial groups, with special attention to their commonfeatures in burial rite and material culture. The influence of steppe traditions in pottery isshown. The author comes to the conclusion that the considered sites may be regarded as aseparate Suvorovo Catacomb culture formed by interaction of two components: the EarlyCatacomb steppe one, and the North Caucasian piedmont one.
