Documents with information about the cities and urban population of Eastern Siberia of the late XIXth - early XXth century in the archives of the Russian Geographical Society

The article considers the documents of the Russian Geographical Society’s archives on the cities and urban population of Eastern Siberia in the second half of the XIXth and the beginning of the XXth century. The author examines the uniqueness and value of the manuscripts, most of which remain unpublished. It is concluded that the manuscripts performed a scientific and educational function, they provided valuable information and were aimed at getting their readers acquainted with the regional specifics of Siberian cities and the way of life of local residents.
