Protected soil in Russia is one of the priority and dynamically developing areas of agriculture. The development of equipment and new technologies for growing vegetables in greenhouses is primarily aimed at reducing operating costs and increasing productivity. Therefore, the development of modern phyto-irradiators based on LEDs is one of the priority tasks in the development of technologies for growing plants in greenhouses. The photosensory mechanisms of plants were studied and the optimal spectral composition of radiation necessary for the favorable growth and development of vegetable crops grown in closed ground was determined. An energy-efficient LED phytoradiator has been developed with the optimal combination of the photosynthetic active radiation spectrum, adjustable spectral composition, the power consumption of which is half that of a high-pressure sodium lamp at the same study power. The phyto-irradiator is equipped with a combination of LEDs whose emission spectrum and power are balanced and consistent with the intensity of absorption and the role in the photosynthesis of key pigments of the photosynthetic apparatus of the plant chlorophylls, carotenoids, cryptochromes and phytochromes. As a result of using a phyto-irradiator for irradiating a tomato, high photosynthesis efficiency is achieved and the nutritional quality of fruits is increased.
