In the second half of the 20th century a new scientific discipline, bioethics, began to form. After some time, two directions began to stand out more clearly - secular and Christian bioethics. Both paths go through the stages of normogenesis, and some norms have to be revised today. Is it possible to plan in advance the further steps of normogenesis in Christian bioethics? What should the scientific community pay close attention to in the 21st century? The article focuses on the analysis of the historical path of the formation of law in a secular society, as well as aspects of the interaction of the Church and the state. Historical experience can be used in the formation of norms and in the search for answers to modern problems of bioethics. Considering the relationship between the state, society, law, spirituality, and science, the author tries to draw a parallel and find a potential answer to the question of the morality of in vitro fertilization in modern society. Obviously, there are still unresolved questions for the Christian consciousness in the 21st century about assisted methods of reproductive technologies, and in particular the IVF procedure. There is an urgent need to review and describe in more detail the positions of the Church. Of course, it is worth considering medical research and innovation in this area. But a no less important problem is competent pastoral care in search of answers to questions of infertility. This article does not aim to advocate for or against IVF, but to weigh and consider a number of situations, taking into account the historical context of normogenesis, updating it for the issues of modern Christian bioethics. The last paragraph examines the practical issues of pastoral care, focusing on the axiological (value) component and personalistic approach.
