The paper concerns the actual situation in modern studies of byzantine theology, especially in Photius studies. It describes the contents of “Bibliotheca” writen by Saint Photius, the patriarch of Constantinople, and gives the translation of some of its texts consecrated to the compositions of one byzantine philosopher John Philoponus. Some remarks on the Photius’ analysis of Philoponus’ heritage are given. We should say that the huge part of theological and philosophical codices of “Bibliotheca” have not been translated yet into Russian. And that is why many Russian scholars and students both of secular and theological institutes and academies do not know about the theological content of “Bibliotheca”. Tis article deals with these maters in the context of co- existence of different ideological and pedagogical lines in Hellenistic and Christian «continuity - discontinuity» in medieval byzantine culture.
