The psychological factors are strong stimula, influencing on reproductive function. Dysphoric disorders and anxiety are often revealed in women with absence of menstruation (amenorrhea). The hypothalamus regulates both emotional behaviour and reproductive function (the secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone - GnRH). It has complicated anatomy and numerous connections with other parts of the cerebrum. The hypothalamic-pituitary insufficiency is hypogonadotropic amenorrhea. One of its variants is psychogenic amenorrhea, developing as a result of influence of neuropsychic and stress factors, the activation of system hypothalamus-hypophysis-adrenals, the braking of GnRH-secretion and the inhibition of axis hypophysis-ovaries. The hypothalamic-pituitary dysfunction is normogonadotropic amenorrhea and oligomenorrhea, developing as a result of disturbed rhythm of GnRH secretion. Little is known about psychical status at the women suffering from normogonadotropic amenorrhea and oligomenorrhea. It is important to study psychic disorders and hypothalamic-pituitary dysfunction.
