The article presents qualitative and quantitative analysis of association between manifestations of psychological wellbeing and structural characteristics of family system in adolescents. 615 Moscow teen aged 12-17 participated in the research. Two hypotheses were discussed: 1) there are gender and age differences in the association of family structure and psychological well-being, 2) there is association of functional potential of the family and manifestations of psychological difficulties. Several measures were used: Hopelessness Scale, UCLA-3, WHO-5, Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire, PDQ-IV, FACES-3 и projective drawing test “Family sociogramm” The results show age differences in family cohesion and adaptation. Also, low level of family functionality showed association with decrease of psychological well-being. Qualitative projective method was added to enrich individual interpretation of the results.
