Dedicated to the analysis of freedom of thought, conscience and religion as a value in European Union law. The place of regulation of this freedom in the Union’s law is determined, the legal category of values is singled out and the said freedom is described as one of them. The subject of the article is the regulation in relation to this freedom, enshrined in EU law. The authors used the system and formal legal methods. According to the results of the study, conclusions are presented on the essence and importance of the freedom of thought, conscience and religion as a value in EU law. In addition, it focuses on the fact that “values” represent a living and effective category of EU law, which is reflected in various areas of the Union’s policies and activities, for example, in education or in foreign policy activities.
