The informational capability of the Unified State Political Department (OGPU) reports as a source for studying the history of the Tula proletariat during the 1920s has been analysed. Separate spheres of social class i.e. struggle for improving financial status, attitude to work, perception of political events have been considered. A brief description of the source has been given.
