Special features of religious and poetic mentality in the essay “Russian pilgrims in Jerusalem” by D. V. Dashkov

The author of the article is the first to analyze the essay “Russian pilgrims in Jerusalem” by D.V. Dashkov as a phenomenon of Russian literature at the beginning of the nineteenth century. In terms of genre typology the essay is defined as a literary pilgrimage travel and is treated as a piece of literature close to other works of this type. The main focus of the article is on the analysis of special features of religious and poetic mentality of the author. The article supposes that the poetics of the essay by D.V. Dashkov is based on a combination of Old Russian and romantic poetic tradition.
