SWOT analysis as an assessment of the socio-economic situation (on the example of single-industry towns of the Volgograd region-the city district of Mikhailovka and the city district of Frolovo)

The article deals with the issues of SWOT analysis of municipalities of the Volgograd region on the example of two single-industry towns-Mikhailovka and Frolovo. SWOT analysis is one of the methods of strategic planning that allows you to characterize the strengths and weaknesses in the development of municipalities, as well as identify opportunities, taking into account the strengths and existing advantages, formulate possible threats or negative consequences, depending on the current socio-economic situation. In the course of the research, the article presents a SWOT analysis in the form of a matrix, the results of which suggest common priority areas for two single-industry towns, which should be taken into account when developing strategic documents. The article also shows that the analyzed territories occupy a favorable geographical location, sufficient availability of labor and natural resources, will contribute to the implementation of an effective socio-economic policy.
