The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between political, economic, and socio-demographic processes at local level. The research problems were the characteristic and raw materials city, the description of demographic dynamics of the population and the analysis of the influence of social policy of the department on living conditions of the citizens. The research methods were chronological, comparative, systematic, and demographic. A characteristic feature of the mining industry was the preservation of signs of early industrialization. Another factor was centralized management. The third factor was the preservation of the private sector. Let's look how it affected the dynamics of the population of Cheremkhovo. The most striking indicator is the constant negative coefficient of migration activity. The situation peaked in the 1970s, when the decline in the birth rate and an increase in mortality combined with a high migration outflow and the increase in divorces. In 1984, there was a certain stabilization of indicators, which was most clearly expressed by the equation of natural growth and migration outflow. It can be assumed that the preservation of a part of the population is due to several city-forming industries, as well as due to the preservation of traditional way of life. In the case of commodity cities monopropellant affects negatively, because they do not create the conditions for progressive development. In urban environment, it was reflected in the form of unsettled conditions, since everything depended on funding from the department. Thus, demographic indicators were sensitive to political and economic processes. Therefore, conducting macrohistorical research on local material is of particular value.
