Syzran periodical press (1917-1922) as a source on the history of book publishing and librarianship

The article contains an overview of publications on the state of book culture in the town of Syzran, Simbirsk province, published in 1917-1922 by the news-papers “Tovarishh”, “Soldat, Rabochij i Krestyanin”, “Izvestiya Syzranskogo Uezdnogo i Gorodskogo Soveta i Partii Kommunistov”, “Alyj Put” and “Syzranskij Kommunar”. The study was accomplished on the basis of copies preserved in the Samara Regional Universal Scientific Library, the Syzran branch of the Central State Archive of the Samara Region, the Syzran Local History Museum and the Russian State Library. Information about the town trade union of printers, print-ing houses, book trade, libraries-reading rooms of Syzran and Syzran County in the period under review is provided.
