The article presents a reconstruction of the formation and development of historical knowledge in the Stalin era (1943-1956) on Tajikistan during the Great Patriotic War. Having studied the development of historiography and relying on such definitions as «narrative» and «discourse», we came to the following conclusions. As the first stage of development of Soviet Tajik historiography about the war, the Stalin era was distinguished by a strong propaganda component and the accumulation and comprehension of knowledge. At the same time, the main factors of victory were interpreted within the framework of the discourse about the leading role of I.V. Stalin and the Communist Party. The main themes of the history of Tajikistan during the war were created in this period: the history of industry and agriculture in wartime; the history of home front workers; the exploits of Tajik warriors on the front; the history of the Communist Party of the Republic and the party's regional organizations (particularly, their activities during the war). Stalinist historiography never paid attention or wrote about the «uncomfortable» issues associated with the history of the war, such as repression, desertion, collaborationism and a whole range of other phenomena that did not fit into the canonical images of the Soviet people.
