Treatment of patients with left-side colon cancer complicated by occlusive ileus

Treatment results for 126 patients with ileus-complicated colon cancer for the period 1990-2005 were presented. The use of surgical technique taking into account pathogenesis characteristics allowed the improvement of short-term treatment results to be obtained. Primary anastomosis was possible to apply to 48 % of patients of the study group. The rates of lethality and postoperative complications in the study group were 15,5 % and 26 %, respectively as compared to 22 % and 35 % in the control group.
