During the investigation of a crime, interrogation is a common and mandatory investigative action. Depending on the procedural status, the person being interrogated behaves differently, either giving a confession or providing false information. This article explores the tactical techniques for identifying false testimony during the interrogation of a witness. It analyzes the psychological mechanisms behind the formation of false testimony and the criteria for its reliability, including internal inconsistencies, lack of specificity, and discrepancies with known facts. The article also focuses on the differentiated application of tactical techniques based on the available evidence and the witness's personality. The article presents methods for neutralizing the motives for giving false testimony, as well as techniques for establishing psychological contact that facilitate the witness's transition to giving truthful testimony.
