Sectioning and redundancy of rural electric networks is one of the measures to improve the reliability of power supply to consumers fed from them. The effect is achieved by eliminating unjustified interruptions in the power supply to consumers during emergency shutdowns at the end of the line behind the established sectioning point, as well as during emergency and planned ones - when disconnecting the head section of the line and supplying backup power to the section behind the sectioning point. The effect consists in reducing the undersupply of electricity to consumers and is manifested both for electric grid organizations and for the consumers themselves. The issue of determining the values of the achieved economic effect during sectioning and the payback periods of sectioning points is relevant. The article considers an example of an existing rural electric network with the choice of a sectioning point for it and the definition of technical and economic indicators of its application.
