The main aim of the state policy in the sphere of energy-efficiency and its improvement is wise and considerate usage of energy sources based on guaranteeing consumers’ interest in energy-saving. In the last few years, all levels of authorities approved programmes on saving energy and energy-efficiency of fuel and energy resources. They state that every organization, company, institution, municipal unit, local settlements and population are obliged to follow these programmes in order to preserve and use fuel and energy resources rationally and to introduce new energy-saving technologies into our lives. The article analyzes the usage of different outdoor lighting sources in rural areas. Running time of outdoor lightings in accordance with light calendar has been estimated. The pay-back period of lump-sum costs for the introduction of energy-efficient lightings during the lighting demand has been calculated and represented. The dependance of the pay-back period on the lighting demand has been reflected in a graph.
