The article continues the cycle of publications devoted to Orthodox biblical studies in the USSR based on the study of works published from 1953 to 1964 in “Zhurnal Moskovskoy Patriarkhii” (Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate) and in the collection “Bogoslovskiye Trudy” (Teological works). In connection with a very large number of publications, most of which are first introduced into scientific circulation, this article deals with only a part of the materials, and they are combined into subsections: textology and events of biblical history. Te examples of specific articles show that during the period under review the atention of domestic researchers was drawn to the issues of new translations of Holy Scripture into Russian and to the publication of a critical text of the New Testament that provoked an acute scientific polemic with Western biblical scholars. It is noted that a significant number of articles are devoted to the jubilee (“Ostromir Gospel”, the first printed “Apostle”) and memorable dates. It is concluded that, although articles of a strictly scientific nature predominate in this period, rather than scientific-popular ones, this does not diminish their importance and significance for those years.
