The study discusses the theme of love and hatred in rock culture and their role in the works of a rock hero who is its subject. Notwithstanding differences, the inextricable link between these categories makes them a priori sides of life contributing to each other. As a leitmotif in the works of rock writers, love and hatred represent the key concepts of rock culture characterized by the duality of the various pairs which implies the specific value and quality characteristics. For that reason, it is important to study the nature of love and hatred and determine their ontological status. The author introduces the concept of misanthropocentrism as a driving force behind the development of a person and the promotion of culture in a particular context. It is necessary to reveal whether it is possible to redirect the destructive energy of hatred to creation through creativity having achieved the subsequent transformation and aesthetic content. This task can be solved under certain conditions.
