The theme of "death for the faith" in the Friday sermons of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani

The article is continuation of the author's study of the role of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani in the history of modern Iran (Vlast, No. 6, 2021). This article analyzes the concept of martyrdom in the views and sermons of Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. The author considers religious and ideological prerequisites for the formation of the idea of self-sacrifice and the very concept of shaheed in the Iranian socio-political discourse of the period under review.
