Tendencies and prospects of the development of the industrial complex of the Volograd region

The article analyses the state of the industrial sector of the Volgograd region. The region produces more than 12 % of the Russian steel pipes, more than 11 % of chemical fibers and threads and more than 8 % of car tires. Positive factors of the development of the industrial potential of the Volgograd region are: oil, gas and minerals deposits; availability of energy within the territory; large proportion of the enterprises with a wide range of production; good transport position, developed scientific and industrial complex, developed foreign relations. Factors restraining the development of the industry of the Volgograd region are the following: complicated process of the development of oil deposits; growth of energy and transport prices; physical and moral wear of the equipment; low competitiveness of the produced production; infrastructural limits of the business; lack of qualified staff. Prospects of the development of the industry of the Volgograd industry in the middle term period are: development of the Gremyachenskoye deposit of the potassium salt; development of a textile cluster; development of the pharmaceutical industry; further development of industries connected with the use of the bischofite; creation of the industries using nano technologies (magnesium hydroxyde); provision of the security of works with the objects of electrical energy (Volzhskaya power plant); increase of the depth of the oil processing (from 83 % till 85 %), volume of the oil processing till 12 million tons and improvement of the quality of the oil production...
