Trends in the regulation of financial and credit institutions in Europe

This article is devoted to the study of major trends in the regulation of financial and credit institutions in Europe. The authors analyze the debt crisis in European countries, reveals links between banks and sovereign debt. The authors research reasons and the idea of establishing a European banking union, consider the functioning mechanism of the European banking union. Special attention is given to scenarios for dealing with problem banks.
