The article deals with the basics of reliability of commercial banks, which is a necessary condition for the development of the Russian banking system. The author's approaches to determining the reliability of banks and the factors that determine the reliability of a commercial Bank are revealed. The main conditions and factors of ensuring financial stability of credit institutions were also considered. And also highlighted the criteria for choosing a potentially sustainable Bank.
