In a rapidly changing market environment, organizations are forced to respond to emerging challenges, risks and threats associated with increased competition. In this aspect, the current direction of ensuring the economic security of an economic entity is the management of its competitiveness, which requires not only a comprehensive assessment of the external and internal environment, but also the development of a strategy and concept at the strategic, tactical and operational levels. The purpose of this work is to consider the theoretical and methodological aspects of managing the competitiveness of an organization in modern socio-economic and geopolitical conditions. The authors consider approaches to the definition of the concepts of «competition», «competitiveness», define the essence of the mechanism for managing competitiveness at the level of an economic entity, and identify its levels, principles, and factors influencing these processes. It is established that the management of an organization’s competitiveness is a complex multi-stage process involving the identification and study of existing problems, external and internal environment, factors, risks and threats, market, analysis of factors and potential to ensure the competitiveness of the organization, resource potential, development of a competitive strategy, its concretization, development of appropriate measures and activities for its implementation, followed by control. The authors propose to increase the role of the state as a tool to support Russian business through government orders and the implementation of global infrastructure projects, the competitiveness of which is being lost due to the sanctions actions of unfriendly countries and the deterioration of the country’s macroeconomic condition.
