The review of the main methodological approaches to research of process of professional socialization of municipal employees is provided in article. Peculiar features of institute of municipal service as type of professional activity are defined, the major factors having impact on formation of such social and professional group as municipal employees are revealed. Relevance of a subject of research is caused by need of local government for providing authorities on places municipal employees, high qualification with creative thinking, due level of professionalism. The purpose of article was definition of the main components of professional socialization of municipal employees. The author to them carried cognitive, valuable and motivational and identification factors. In article the conclusion is drawn that the main problems demanding overcoming are insufficient competence of municipal employees, lack of accurate system of an assessment of activity of municipal employees, shift in the course of professional socialization of valuable installations towards bureaucratization, formalization of their activity. It involves decrease in efficiency of municipal management.
