Theoretical background of the study of the relationship of social anxiety with personality features of the "dark triad"

The authors define social anxiety as a state of being emotionally uncomfortable because of interactions with others. The author provides theoretical justification for the study of social anxiety and personality traits of the «Dark Triad». Three models of social anxiety forming are described in the article: functional model, self-presentation model and cognitive dissonance’s model. The associations of these models with non-clinical narcissism, machiavellianism, and non-clinical psychopathy are presented in the article.
