Theoretical and empirical definition of problematic alcohol consumption

Current sociological surveys pay significant attention to problematic forms of alcohol drinking behavior, which are often defined as alcoholism, binge drinking, alcohol abuse, problematic alcoholization, etc. in the literature. There is a need for more precise definition of the problematic alcohol consumption. The aim of this article is to identify theoretical and empirical definitions of problematic alcohol consumption in Russian and international sociological surveys.
