In the article the theoretical and methodological statements of oriental studies researches in physical culture and sport are revealed. Some features of western and oriental religions are considered in the aspect of physical culture and sports activities. The differences in classifications between West and East have been analyzed. The special role of the Baikal region has been noted as a connecting link of cultures of Eastern and Western cultures. At the same time it is specified that the scientific development of the research problem in the sphere of physical culture and sport in the aspect “East and West” is being working out only for a few decades that has conditioned a necessity for development of the theoretical and methodological fundamentals of the researches in physical culture and sport in the aspect “East and West”. Thus, two decades ago scientific and sports public for the first time had the opportunity to get acquainted with conception of S.V. Kalmykov justifying the necessity for mutual enrichment of the East and the West cultures in the sphere of physical culture and sport. Its urgency is emphasized. And the theoretical and methodological fundamentals of the researches of the human sports activities in the context “East-West” conclude in the differences in the conceptual approaches to the solution of the problem of individual “Ego” and subject-object relations in the Western and Eastern schools. As a specification the author proposes a comparative classification of the differences between East and West.
