Theory of conservation of cultural values: to the problem of contradictions interpretation

Бесплатный доступ

The article provides a brief overview and analysis of the theory of restoration of cultural values. The author notes that traditionally evolution of the theory of conservation is presented as a movement from renovation to scientific restoration. Moreover, these two fundamental approaches coexist both in a historical perspective and in actual practice. Probably, it is possible to partially remove this contradiction by viewing the theory of conservation in the light of the axiological theory of culture, which allows us to present culture as a set of value orientations. The goal of conservation in this case can be in actualization of the value criteria of the object, and the tasks in the search for methods of achieving it.
