Thermal treatment of steels as the factor of increasing of their wear resistance at low temperatures

The questions of influence of thermal treatment of tool steel on their wear resistance at low temperatures are considered. The processes occuring in the zone of contact of abrasive and material, in its various structural condition, defined by the modes of thermal treatment are analyzed. It is offered the hypothesis of influence of low temperatures on change of the mechanism of wear process. It is considered the influence of carbide phase of tool steels on their wear resistance in conditions of friction and impact on an abrasive surface at low temperatures.
